中国国家主席jzm12月31日通过中国国际广播电台,中央人民广播电台和中央电视台,发表了题为"共同创造和平繁荣的美好未来"的2003年新年.On the eve of the New Year, Chinese President Jiang Zemin issued a speech, through China Radio International and two other state-level broadcasters, to extend best wishes to people throughout the world. He reviewed the progress China has made in Year 2002 in domestic affairs and international relations and outlines the tasks for the future. We now broadcast the president's speech, entitled "striving for a good future of peace and prosperity with joint efforts".
Ladies and Gentlemen, Comrades and Friends, The New Year bell shall ring for the year of 2003. At this moment, I am glad to extend, through China Radio International, China National Radio and China Central Television, my new year wishes to the people of all nationalities of the country, to compatriots of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region, to Taiwan compatriots as well as overseas Chinese, and to friends of all countries around the world and in all the regions.
The year 2002 is of major and deep significance to the development of China. The Communist Party of China successfully convened the 16th National Congress. This congress set the important thought of "The Three Represents" together with Marxism and Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, and Deng Xiaoping Theory as the guideline that the Communist Party of China must adhere to for a long time. The congress systematically summed up the basic experience of our Party in leading people to build socialism with Chinese characteristics.
