PartofthefascinationwithTheQueenMotherwasthesheeranofhistorySheencompaed,notjustthegreateventsofthe20thcentury,itswars,theideologiesthatcameandwent,butitstechnologicalandscientificdiscoveries,itsvastlychangingculture.1801comparedto1701wasnodoubtverydifferent.But20xxcomparedto1901seemsanhistoricageapartandyetShesawitandexperienceditall.

ShewasbornduringtheBoerWar,inaneravirtuallyfreefromthemotorcar,atimewhen,Sheonceremembered,adairymanstilloftenstoodwithhiscowsellingmilknearthegatesofBuckinghamPalace.YetattheendofHerlife,thousandsofpeoplesente-mailsofcondolencetotheroyalweite.
